Last night ,I talked to my cousin about "Strawberry generation"

My cousin said: Your generation like luxuries ,while Our parents' generation like practical things.

Because you guys lived in booming time in Taiwan ,but our parent grew up in hardtimes.

My generation still choose a little practical.Your generation would rather Luxuries

than practical things



Then,I said: I don't think our generation like luxury,I think we just like the pretty

items in our life such as design & decoration in our life .They make us better.

I believe it is not fair to compare our generation to others.

We do not consider as much as our parents generation because We were growing in

a time which was full of a series of challenges and changes .

In one side,We are experienced mass media informations overcrowding our society

,times of global villages, especially in Internet world .

In other side,we have to face consequences of growing ecoonmy .

 These inculded global warming ,earthquake , water and food shortages and sever

disease such as cancer and so on...

Because of these experiences,we are optimistic in future developments .We are affluent

in imagination .On the other hand , it is  also easy for us to feel pessimistic about our

lives.(we can not control environment .Everything is fast and unpredictable.)

Thus, our generation prefer the pursuit of pleasure than to have a practical life.






*Strawberry generation (草莓族) is a term coined in Taiwan to designate people born in the 1980s (between 1981 and 1991).

The general perception is that these people, having grown in a protected environment and with economic prosperity, are less able to withstand pressure or to do hard work.The specific background of Strawberry generations is that they were growing up in booming time of Taiwan.Consequently, the people from this generation generally grew up in a protected environment(e.g. being overprotected by their parents), just as strawberries are grown in greenhouses and command a high price compared to other fruits.
